We get excited about what we do, so we made our website an outlet for this excitement. Instead of a logo, a few photos and some flowery words on a static home page, we want to give you a sense of what we've been doing lately. The articles cover a wide range of topics. Austin Image is a photography business with varied interests but our main activity has been weddings. We really enjoy working with young, happy couples - it rubs off a little! Wedding photography is a huge responsibility and a lot of work the way we do them, so we limit ourselves to about 20 per year.

We built a brand new dedicated studio when we moved here in 2005, so we're getting more serious about portraiture and providing all the services that our small but growing community requires. We're prepared to do commercial work as well - products and publicity shots. It is important to us to always be learning, meeting new people, taking on new challenges. We're working on a project to photograph all wildflowers in our area using consistent portrait-style lighting.

Photography has been a lifelong pursuit for Curt, starting in a darkroom built in the proverbial coal bin of his family's house. He pursued a different career path, however, leading to various positions in research and management at General Electric. He began to consider photography as a second career in 1997, and pulled the plug on GE in 2000. Nancy couldn't help but get involved, to the point where she became a full partner and left her communinications day job in 2005.

Both Curt and Nancy are active in the Chestertown Library. Nancy is secretary of the Friends of the Library, while Curt is a member of the Board of Trustees. Curt plays Horn in the Lake George Community Band and the Lake George Chamber Orchestra; he has also formed a local group to play the Brahms Horn Trio. Nancy has recently taken up the clarinet after a long pause. Curt is also a Trustee for the North Warren Chamber of Commerce.
