We've arrived! We've completed our arduous, five-year plan to come home to the Adirondacks. We wish to thank all the people in Chestertown who have helped us achieve this goal, particularly Nancy's father Tom Stewart and builder Mike Ross, without whom we'd be a year behind.
"Wilderness was the basic ingredient of American culture." - Roderick Nash, from Wilderness and the American Mind, 1967.
We will photograph the details. This is an elegant table centerpiece at the Hiland Park Country Club in Queensbury. Images like this one, rarely seen in traditional albums, are perfect in our Art Albums. Indeed, we freguently hear comments that our Art Albums show the look and feel of a wedding.
We have many entries here for weddings, but don't forget, we have a full-service studio for families, children and commercial photography. If you're having a reunion at your camp this summer, give us a call.
One of our last weddings in Ohio took place at a vineyard. We might use this sort of image by itself as a two-page spread in an album - simple, bold, dramatic.
This is a screenshot of the image editing program that we use to view and manage your photos. Note the red and green labels, which denote our main categories - Best and Others. Our clients will find this sort of software useful as well since they usually purchase the original camera files.
The thirty photos shown here were taken over a period of just one minute, eight seconds. We captured nearly 1200 images at this wedding, which was held at the Copperfield Inn in North Creek.
There are some great opportunities for engagement photos just down the road from our studio. Granite, pine needles, gnarly white pines, a curtain of water at the Loon Lake Dam - we're having a lot of fun. But the most important thing about the free engagement session we offer with all packages is that we and our clients get some experience working with each other.
We're building a new studio in Chestertown, just a few miles from the Northway. This will be the showroom, where clients will view their photos. Doors, paint, carpeting - we can't wait! [Update: Doors, paint, carpeting - done!]
A fisheye lens is a fun way to capture a full dance floor. Curt spun the camera during the exposure, making the circular light trails. The bride chose a DJ and the cake supplier based on our recommendations (she chose us based on her sister's recommendation!). Photographers know something about wedding vendors and want your wedding to go well, almost as much as you do - ask them what they think.
Laure was a sensation in every sense of the word, surprising her bridesmaids, guests and especially Ray.
Everyone takes photos of big groups that include the bride and groom, and photos of the bride and groom by themselves. We take photos of the bride and groom in the midst of a group. It's really a shot of the bride and groom, but in a more interesting and dynamic setting than if they were by themselves. It takes only seconds to take this shot and several similar shots, so why not?
Nancy got a great image of Erin at the French House as her father prepared to walk her down the aisle. This shot shows an advantage of having two photographers - a solo photographer cannot hang back to get a shot like this.
As always, we captured this digital image in color, and converted it to B&W later using various tricks of the trade, giving it a special tone and glow.
Incidentally, the couple flew off to Jamaica for their honeymoon and an exciting rendezvous with Hurricane Ivan.
Our vacation: Nancy and I spent two lovely weeks in the Adirondacks last summer, mostly in a tent but also in a 12-foot canoe made by our new friend Peter Hornbeck. We were entertained by a family of common loons on Forked Lake.
Testimonial: Stacey and Brett just sent us a nice note after receiving their album: "Everyone here at work was so impressed and thought it was the best wedding album they'd ever seen. Most of all the page with Victoria and me hugging. Thanks again for everything!"
You can view their entire album here.
